He took his bachelor degree in Physics (1981) at University of São Paulo (IFUSP), a master degree (1986) in Spatial Science/Astrogeophysics/Nuclear Geophysics at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) and his doctorate (1997) in Electric Engineering at University of São Paulo (POLI - USP). He was a researcher at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IEAV) of the Departamento de Ciência e Tecnologia Aeroespacial(DCTA), Brazil for 33 years and 3 months. He has experience in Electric Engineering, focusing on numerical finite element method, magnetohydrodynamics applied to electromagnetic bombing of fluids, linear electron acelerator and numerical simulations of electromagnetic waves propagation in open and bounded boundaries and in microstructured optical fibers. Nowadays he is dedicating to metamaterials in the optical and microwave ranges. From 2012 to 2019 he dedicated to infrared radiometry applied to defence, developing experimental and data reduction methodologies to determining infrared signature of airplanes with stationary and rotating wings.
