Giovanna de Souza Pereira

Giovanna Pereira is a geologist with a Bachelor's degree from the University of São Paulo (Institute of Geosciences - USP, 2010). She holds a Master's degree in Science from the Mineralogy and Petrology program at IGc-USP (2013) and a Ph.D. in Science, also from the Mineralogy and Petrology program at IGc-USP (2019). Between 2012 and 2013, she worked as a junior geologist at Petrobras (Petróleo Brasileiro S. A.), where she completed the Geologist Training Course at Petrobras University. Subsequently, she joined the Geological Monitoring and Sedimentology Laboratory teams, both related to the Santos Basin (UO-BS). She also served as an independent researcher for the Chemistry Laboratory - ICP at NAP Geoanalytical - USP, focusing on the development of a methodology for trace element and rare earth element analysis in fused sample pellets (glass beads) using LA-ICP-MS. Furthermore, she worked as an independent service provider for ADIMB-Vale in the project involving the petrogenetic and petrological characterization of Neoarchean volcanism events in the Carajás Basin. Currently, Giovanna is a member of the CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) research group at the Institute of Energy and Environment at the University of São Paulo. She is conducting a postdoctoral research project focused on the geological and technological characterization of cap rock formations for geological CO2 storage in the Paraná Basin.
