Petrônio Noronha de Souza

Holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of Campinas (1982), a master's degree in Space Science/Orbital Mechanics from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) (1986), and a PhD in Advanced Manufacturing from Cranfield University, England (1993). He was a member of the Scientific and Technical Council (CTC) of INPE (1997-1999), founder and first president of the Brazilian Aerospace Association (AAB), and is a Senior Technologist III at INPE. He has experience in Aerospace Engineering, with an emphasis on satellites and other aerospace devices, working on the following topics: attitude control, structures and mechanisms, systems engineering, and project management. He worked in the Planning area of #8203;#8203;INPE and was a professor in the Postgraduate course in Space Engineering and Technology, focusing on Space Systems Engineering and Management. He was a collaborator of the AEB Escola Program of the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB). From September 2008 to September 2012, he headed the Integration and Testing Laboratory (LIT) at INPE, a laboratory responsible for the assembly, integration, and testing of satellites developed by the National Program for Space Activities (PNAE). From September 2012 to January 2019, he held the position of Director at the then Directorate of Space Policy and Strategic Investments (DPEI) at AEB. From February 2019 to September 2020, he held the position of Coordinator of the Scientific and Technological Management Coordination (COGCT) at INPE. From October 2020 to March 2021 he coordinated the committee responsible for INPE's Strategic Planning and for preparing its Master Plan for the period 2022-2026. In the 2023-2024 biennium he chaired two panels for technologist vacancies in INPE's public competition launched on October 6, 2023. He is currently a member of the staff of the Planning, Budget and Evaluation Coordination (COPOA) of INPE, supports the General Coordination of Engineering, Technology and Space Sciences (CGCE) in carrying out project review panels, supports the INPE Management on institutional improvement issues, gives lectures and opinions to development organizations in his area of #8203;#8203;#8203;#8203;activity, participates in thesis and dissertation panels, publishes articles, and is dedicated to recovering the memory of the Brazilian Space Program.
