Bachelor in chemistry from the State University of Campinas (1984), a master's degree in Chemistry from the State University of Campinas (1987), a PhD in Chemistry from the State University of Campinas (1993) and a postdoctoral degree from the University of Bristol (2002-2003). He is currently a full professor at the State University of Campinas. The studies developed in the research group are related to the physical-chemistry of colloidal and surface systems. More specifically, the studies involve systems that undergo self-assembly, related to polymeric and surfactant molecules. One of the main approaches is related to the rheological behavior of systems, often involving fluids applied in the oil industry. Structural and morphological properties are investigated by techniques such as SAXS. Energetic aspects of molecular associations are studied through calorimetric techniques.
