My research focuses on the evolution of bird migration, and integrates evolutionary ecology, behavioral ecology, and life history theory. Migratory birds are common throughout the planet, offering a unique opportunity to understand how organisms have overcome challenges to reproduction, survival and migration in a wide range of conditions. I compare the ecology and behavior of different populations of migratory birds by tracking birds with nano-tags and comparing them within a phylogenetic framework to generate new insights into the evolution of movement strategies.
