Bruno Leonardo Barcella Silva

PhD in Geography from the Graduate Program in Geography at São Paulo State University (UNESP), Presidente Prudente campus (PPGG/FCT-UNESP), with a doctoral research stay in Political Economy at the Centre for Social Studies (CES) of the University of Coimbra (UC-PT). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at São Paulo State University (UNESP) in the area of Applied Social Sciences. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). Author of the book A terra sob o ritmo das finanças: uma história de poder, rentismo e destituição de direitos sociais (The Land under the Rhythm of Finance: A History of Power, Rent-Seeking, and the Dispossession of Social Rights). He holds a Masters degree and a Bachelors degree (Licentiate and BA) in Geography from São Paulo State University (UNESP), Presidente Prudente campus. His academic background includes experience in Economic and Urban Geography, Urban and Regional Economics, Urban, Regional, and Territorial Planning, as well as Political Economy. His main research focuses encompass the financialization of the economy and the Brazilian real estate circuit, the securitization of the housing and real estate sector, the transformation of land and property into financial assets, rentier dynamics in land and finance, urban space production, real estate dynamics, housing policies, and social and socio-spatial inequalities. He is currently a member of the research groups GAsPERR (Research Group on the Production of Space and Regional Redefinitions), CEMESPP (Centre for the Study and Mapping of Social Exclusion for Public Policies), RECiME (Research Network on Medium-Sized Cities), ONDi (National Observatory for the Monitoring and Evaluation of Real Estate and Land Dynamics), and LEPUR (Laboratory of Urban and Regional Studies and Projects).
