Silvia Maria Do Espirito Santo

Silvia Maria do Espírito Santo (SMES) holds a degree in Sociology and Politics from the Fundação Escola de Sociologia e Política de São Paulo (1981), a specialization in Cultural Heritage from FAU-USP-FUPAM (1990), a masters degree in Information Science and Documentation from the School of Communications and Arts at the University of São Paulo (2000), and a doctorate in Information Science from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2009). Supported by FAPESP, SMES completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Porto, Portugal (2014-2015), focusing on coffee, through the project The Virtual Coffee Corridor Converging in the Dimension of Structured Information. SMES is currently pursuing a postgraduate program in Museology, Preservation, Management, and Dissemination at the Fundação Escola de Sociologia e Política. SMES is a professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences, and Letters - DEDIC-BCI, teaching in both the Graduate Program in Education and undergraduate courses in Librarianship, Information Science, and Biology. With extensive experience in Information Science, she focuses on Information Theory, Organization of Information, and Information Mediation, specializing in archival studies, museology, and information science. SMES provides Ad Hoc reviews, served on the Research Ethics Committee (CEP 2017-2018)-2021, was a Member of the Commission for Culture and Extension (CCEX) (2018-2019), and a member of COC DEDIC (2021).SMES founded and coordinates the CNPq Study and Research Group - Pítia: Studies in Memory and Digital Platforms. She was also the Coordinator of the Librarianship and Information Science Program at FFCLRP (2021-2022) and is a member of the Ribeirão Preto Pedagogical Support Group - GAP-RP. She has published scientific articles in the fields of Information and Cultural Heritage. Additionally, she is a member of the Working Group on Material, Cultural, and Environmental Heritage and on the Constructive and Urban Planning Guidelines for the USP-RP Campus Master Plan, and a member of the Municipal Council for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage of Ribeirão Preto - Conppac.
