Medical doctor, ophthalmologist specialized in retina and vitreous surgery, and Ph.D. from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). My primary research focuses on creating publicly accessible datasets for machine learning and developing algorithms to enhance medical care, with particular attention to understanding and mitigating biases throughout the AI lifecycle, as well as utilizing imaging for healthcare screening and follow-up. My areas of interest include multimodal imaging exams to improve diagnostic accuracy, exploring and addressing biases in clinical data to prevent unintended consequences of AI deployment in healthcare, and promoting equity. With an emphasis on global health, I aim to bridge healthcare disparities through technology, studying the interaction between humans and algorithms to facilitate AI integration in medical settings. Additionally, I support collaborative research and the advancement of data science education in medical contexts, fostering innovation and knowledge sharing. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
