Graduated in Biological Sciences, she completed her Master's and PhD in Health Sciences with an emphasis on Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of São Francisco, under the supervision of Prof. Lucio Fábio Caldas Ferraz. During her studies, she investigated virulence factors and quorum sensing mechanisms in Klebsiella pneumoniae, and also conducted part of her PhD research at the University of South Australia under the supervision of Prof. Henrietta Venter, focusing on the SdiA regulator and its role in suppressing fimbriae and biofilm formation. With support from FAPESP and CAPES, her research ranged from the genotypic and phenotypic characterization of Klebsiella pneumoniae to the study of cellular adhesion and invasion processes.Currently, Thaisy Pacheco is a university lecturer, contributing to the education of future health professionals, and she recently completed her Postgraduate degree in Aesthetic Biomedicine to broaden her areas of expertise. Iron plays an important role on the expression regulation of many virulence genes in pathogenic bacteria.
