Sirius Oliveira Souza

Graduated in Geography from Faculdade Pitágoras - Teixeira de Freitas Unit (via PROUNI), with a specialization in Geography Teaching from the Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz (UESC, 2010), a master's degree from the Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (UFES, 2013), a doctorate from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP, 2017), and a postdoctoral fellowship from the Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP, 2018).Currently, he is an Adjunct Professor in the Geography Department and a Permanent Faculty Member in two graduate programs at the Universidade do Estado da Bahia (UNEB): the Graduate Program in Territorial Studies (Campus I) and the Graduate Program in Education, Culture, and Semi-Arid Territories (PPGESA, Campus VII).He has previously served as an evaluator for the National Textbook Program (PNLD/CAPES) and was a member of the CAPES Quadrennial Evaluation and APCN Commission for graduate programs in Geography from 2017 to 2020.He is the Leader of the Research Group on Semi-Arid Tropical Landscapes (NEPST-UNIVASF) and a member of the Basic Advisory and Scientific-Technological Evaluation Chamber for Human Sciences and Education at the Bahia State Research Support Foundation (FAPESB). Currently, he is part of the team of researchers of the Action Program against Desertification, Effects of Drought and Review of State Plans (PROADES UNIVASF), financed by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MMA), and is an associate member of the Brazilian Association of Biogeography (ABBIOGEO) and is part of the current board of directors of the Brazilian Association of Physical Geography (ABGF). He has extensive experience in the area of #8203;#8203;Geography, with an emphasis on Physical Geography, working mainly on the following topics: Geomorphology/Climatology/Biogeography and Planning; Desertification; Environmental Analysis.
