Graduated in Medicine (2003) from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo, he obtained his doctorate (2012) from the same institution. He has a medical residency in Orthopedics and Traumatology and a specialization in Spinal Surgery from the Hospital das Clínicas de Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo, endorsed by specialist titles from the respective societies. He worked as an Assistant Physician at the Hospital Clínicas de Ribeirão Preto from 2009 to 2013. From 2012 to 2013 he worked as a Professor at FMRP/USP and in 2014 he was appointed Professor Doctor at the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto - USP. Full Advisor and Vice Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Health Sciences Applied to the Locomotor System at FMRP/USP; He is a founding member of the Brazilian Spine Study Group and conducts research focused on the study of spinal disorders, with an emphasis on imaging, minimally invasive spinal surgery and spinal deformities. He is a founding member of the EPIC Institute, which, in addition to other activities, focuses primarily on stimulating and developing research among undergraduate and graduate students. As a charitable activity, Professor Fernando Herrero is a founding member of the Mude a Curva social project, which aims to perform philanthropic surgeries to treat spinal deformities in children and adolescents throughout Brazil.
