Full Professor at the Faculty of Education of the University of São Paulo, Bachelor (1989) and Master (1992) in Chemistry, Doctor of Science (1997) from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Full Professor (2006) and Full Professor (2018) from the Faculty of Education of the University of São Paulo (USP), where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, conducts research in the area of #8203;#8203;Science Education, develops extension projects, mainly in teacher training, and coordinates the Laboratory of Research in Chemistry Teaching and Educational Technologies (LAPEQ). During his undergraduate studies, he participated in Scientific Initiation projects in organometallic, applied physical chemistry and quantum chemistry laboratories. His master's and doctoral theses dealt with calculations of basis functions and atomic and molecular properties, with applications in systems of biological interest. As a postgraduate student, he was a representative on the University Council and president of the Association of Postgraduate Students in Chemistry. Between 2002 and 2003, he completed his postdoctoral studies at the Centre for Language and Communication of the Faculty of Education and Language Studies of the Open University (UK). In 2006, he obtained the title of associate professor with a thesis on sociocultural studies in the use of computers in Science Education. In 2023, he worked as a visiting researcher at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (France). He coordinates four lines of research at LAPEQ: 'Mediated actions and construction of meanings in the science classroom'; 'Communication and scientific culture in the classroom'; 'Information and communication technologies in science education'; 'Didactic planning under a socio-historical-cultural approach mediated by socio-scientific problems'.
