A medical doctor with an interest in developing new tools to make an impact in lives of neglected populations. Graduated from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, with residency in Pediatrics. A PhD thesis on the molecular epidemiology of malaria in the Amazon region was followed by a post-doctoral position at TDR/WHO, where she was introduced to clinical research for the development of new treatments for tropical diseases. During her career, she had the opportunity to work in the academia, with governmental institutions and non-for-profit international organizations, with projects in Latin America, Africa and South Asia. Over 20 years of experience in research on tropical diseases, including leishmaniasis, malaria, Chagas disease and schistosomiasis, dedicating last 14 years principally dedicated to the development of new treatments for neglected diseases.
