Associate Professor in the Department of Literary Theory at the University of Campinas (Unicamp), where he coordinates Kaliban Research Group on Postcolonial and World Literature (website: https://www2.iel.unicamp.br/kaliban/). From 2008 to 2013, he served as Assistant Professor of Luso-Brazilian Literature in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Chicago (USA). He earned his undergraduate degree in Social Sciences from the Federal University of Pernambuco (2001) and completed his M.A. and Ph.D. in Hispanic Literature at the University of California, Berkeley (USA). He held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (20172018) and was the Joaquim Nabuco Chair in Brazilian Studies at Stanford University (2020), where he taught the course The Conceptual History of Formação. In 2022, he received his Livre-Docência (habilitation) in Brazilian Literature at Unicamp, with a focus on the concept of formação as developed in foundational works of Brazilian social thought and literary criticism. He is a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow. At Unicamp, he directed the Alexandre Eulálio Documentation Center (CEDAE) from 2015 to 2017, chaired the Department of Literary Theory from 2018 to 2021, and served as Faculty Advisor to the Rectors Office, based at the Executive Office of International Relations, from 2021 to 2025.
