Birthplace: Brazil

Holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the Federal University of Pernambuco, where he worked on a project on the topic of Quantized Billiards and served as a teaching assistant for the Structure of Matter course. Earned his Master's degree in Astronomy from the Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics, and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of São Paulo (IAG-USP), where he worked on high-energy astrophysics based on gamma-ray observations from the Fermi space telescope. Holds a Ph.D. in Astronomy from IAG-USP, where he studied globular clusters and active galactic nuclei, always focusing on aspects of high-energy astrophysics. He was a visiting Ph.D. student for one year at the Università degli Studi di Torino, Italy, and for two months at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Würzburg, Germany, and at the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, in Turin, Italy.
