Michell de Oliveira Almeida

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy-Biochemistry from Universidade Paulista, Limeira campus (2012). He completed a Master's degree in Science and Technology/Chemistry at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), where he developed projects related to computational chemistry methods and 3D-QSAR techniques for the study of TGF-#946; type I receptor (ALK5) inhibitors. He earned a Ph.D. in Science and Technology/Chemistry from UFABC, where he was a FAPESP fellow and conducted research on molecular dynamics, hybrid methods (QM/MM - ONIOM), and theoretical chemistry approaches (NBO and QTAIM) applied to ALK5 inhibitors. Completed a postdoctoral fellowship funded by FAPESP at the Institute of Chemistry of São Carlos (IQSC-USP), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Marcos Roberto de Vasconcelos Lanza, applying computational chemistry methods to investigate the electrochemical degradation of endocrine-disrupting compounds. He also conducted a FAPESP-BEPE funded postdoctoral internship abroad, under the supervision of Prof. Francesc Illas Riera and Dr. Federico Calle Vallejo, focusing on the computational study of carbon-based materials for hydrogen peroxide electrogeneration. Currently, he is a CNPq Knowledge Brazil Level 1 Research Fellow at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of São Paulo, where he investigates molecular targets in neglected diseases. His areas of expertise include computational calculations of FTIR and UV/VIS spectra, molecular docking, QSAR, molecular dynamics simulations, free energy calculations for proteinligand systems, and the application of quantum chemistry to the electronic structure of drug candidates and to the degradation mechanisms of endocrine disruptors in the presence of reactive radicals.
