Luiz Renato Montone Pera (1984) is an artist, researcher and lecturer. Since the very beginning of his art practice and education at the University of São Paulo has been in constant displacement between experimentation in the studio - considering it in an expanded way - and theoretical research. Between 2022 and 2023, Pera developed postdoctoral research under the supervision of Giselle Beiguelman (FAUUSP) and Michael Asbury at the University of the Arts London (UAL), with CNPq scholarship. Pera has completed Ph.D., Master (both under the supervision of Dr. Luiz Claudio Mubarac) and BFA at the University of São Paulo, and was a Visiting Ph.D. Student at the Technological University Dublin, under the supervision of Dr. Niahm O'Malley (Ireland, 2018). He has been granted with CAPES Scholarship (2019-2021), Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (2018) and FAPESP (2015-2016). He was awarded for his artistic work in the 42 SARP Salão de Arte de Ribeirão Preto (2017), 24 Visualidade Nascente (2016), Programa Rede Nacional Funarte Artes Visuais (2012), and VI Encontro de Artes de Atibaia (2007). Was nominated for the PIPA Prize in 2017 and 2014 (Brazil). Has participated in art residency programes such as Museum Without Walls (Espírito Santo Art Museum, 2021), Red Bull House of Art (São Paulo, 2011) and the Programa de Residencias Artísticas Para Creadores de Iberoamérica y Haití en México (2010). Has proposed artworks for public spaces such as "Rumor" (São Paulo City Museum, 2022-2023), "Outdoor" (Ribeirão Preto Art Museum), "Renato Pera: Vão e Vazão" [Renato Pera: Aperture and Outflow] (2017) with the suport of ProAC-ICMS public funding (São Paulo), and "Projeto Vitrinas - MASP / Metro de São Paulo program for emerging artists", inaugurating the program and then acting as co-curator (2011 - 2015), among other projects. Besides, made artistic interventions on the campus of the University of São Paulo (2006, 2007 and 2008). He has also participated in several individual and group exhibitions, nationally and abroad. His works belong to the collections of Casa de Cultura da América Latina (Brasília DF), Museu de Arte de Ribeirão Preto, Museu Universitário de Arte da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (MG), Município de Atibaia (SP), and Museo Diego Rivera Anahuacalli (Mexico City). In 2022, is ranked first for Adjunct Professor in Sculpture at the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ). Between 2018 and 2023, Pera acted as Associate Lecturer at FMU College, in São Paulo, and collaborated with lectures at TU Dublin (Ireland). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
