Rafael Carneiro Ortiz

Currently, he is a Professor specializing in Histology and Physiology at the Department of Biological Sciences, Bauru School of Dentistry, University of São Paulo (FOB/USP). He earned his Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Faculdade Anhanguera Educacional de Bauru (2013), followed by Master's (FAPESP#2015/06945-2; 2018) and Doctorate (FAPESP#2017/25022-8; 2022) degrees in Oral Biology - Applied Dental Sciences from FOB/USP. He completed his postdoctoral studies at the Postgraduate Program in Rehabilitation Sciences at the Hospital for Rehabilitation of Craniofacial Anomalies, University of São Paulo (HRAC/USP), selected under the ACT-CAPES program. Additionally, he served as a Substitute Professor of Oral Pathology at the Faculty of Dentistry, Campus Araçatuba, Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho," and was honored with the 1st David Capistrano da Costa Filho Scientific Prize at the IV Academic Medical Congress of Bauru - USP. He is an active member of research groups such as "Stem Cells in Head and Neck Cancer" and "Comparative Microscopic, Microarchitectural, and Dynamic Aspects of the Musculoskeletal System under the Influence of Local, Systemic, and Senescence Factors," registered with CNPq. His expertise spans general histopathology, oral cancer carcinogenesis, cancer stem cell biomarkers, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition.
