PhD in Cell Biology ( Biochemistry) (2011) and Degree in Biochemistry (2006) by the University of Coimbra. I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Chronic Disease Studies (2011-2013) and at BIDMC, Harvard Medical School (2013), and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Research on Obesity and Comorbidities (OCRC), State University of Campinas. In 2014 I was awarded the Young Researcher Award from the International Diabetes Federation - Europe and in 2015 the Science Award from Máxima Mulher de Negócios magazine.Currently, I am assistent professor in the Department of Biochemistry, UFSC and in the Graduate Program in Biochemistry at the Center for Biological Sciences, UFSC.I am the principal investigator of the Neuro-Imuno Metabolism Laboratory research group (https://imunometabolismo.paginas.ufsc.br/) whose main objective is to study cellular and molecular conversions associated with obesity and associated metabolic diseases. My main interest is also to study the control of fetal programming that is associated with the biogenesis of neurodevelopmental diseases and metabolic diseases, and also how gestational obesity is involved in the development of neuropsychiatric diseases, focusing on neuroinflammation disorders.
