Acute promyelocitic leukemia is a hematological cancer form driven by the emergence and proliferation of granulocyte precursor cells, which in 90 % of the cases is caused by the translocation, of the retinoic acid receptor ± (RAR±) gene on chromosome 17 and the promyelocitic leukemia protein (PML) on chromosome 15.
