Epidemiologist and pediatrician, he is an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the School of Medicine, University of São Paulo (USP). After completing his Ph.D. in 2001, he obtained an MSc in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (20032004) and pursued postdoctoral training at the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London (20042005). He earned his Habilitation (livre-docência) in 2017.In undergraduate education, he teaches courses on Primary Health Care (PHC) and has been involved in the Mentorship Program since 2015. He participates in the medical residency program, supervising internships in Child Health and PHC, with activities focused on evaluating health services. He is also a graduate supervisor for stricto sensu postgraduate programs in Pediatrics at the School of Medicine of USP (FMUSP) and Epidemiology at the School of Public Health of USP (FSP-USP).His main research focus is Life Course Epidemiology, which has led him to conduct translational studies bridging clinical and basic sciences, initially in the field of DOHaD (Developmental Origins of Health and Disease) and, more recently, in Evolutionary Medicine. His work centers on the effects of exposures during developmental periods (from conception to adolescence) on adult health trajectories, as well as the transgenerational inheritance of acquired traits. He is a researcher in the RPS Birth Cohort Consortium, working with the Ribeirão Preto cohorts.Between 2012 and 2020, he served as a member of the Research Ethics Committee (CEP) at FMUSP. Currently, within his department, he coordinates the Culture and Outreach Commission and the Inclusion and Belonging Commission. He is a member of the board of directors of the Instituto Perdizes at the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP, where he also works in the Care Transition Unit, focusing on hospital-to-community transitions.He is a member of the board of directors of the International Society of Evolutionary Medicine and Public Health and serves as the coordinator of BrEHS (Brazilian Evolution and Health Study Group).
