Professor and researcher in the Occupational Therapy Program at the Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo. Holds a PhD in Philosophy (FFLCH-USP), a Master's in Mental Health Services and Public Policies (NMS/FCM - NOVA University of Lisbon), a Master's in Public Health (FMUSP), a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy (FFLCH-USP), and a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy (FMUSP).Served as a National Consultant on Mental Health, Alcohol, Other Drugs, and Violence for the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) in Brazil, working at national and regional levels to expand and qualify community-based mental health networks and services, promote alternatives to long-term based models, and foster deinstitutionalization processes. Contributed to transforming systems, practices and knowledges.Worked as a public policy analyst specializing in mental health and substance use at the Public Policy Center of the Technical Support Group of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ). Responsibilities included developing and implementing assessment processes for psychiatric hospitals, long-term units for people who use substances, and long-termfacilities exclusively for individuals with disabilities, aiming at their closure and the establishment of community-based services within healthcare and social assistance networks. Also participated in monitoring the quality of rights within community-based services.Member of the Interdisciplinary Research Group on Public Policies in Mental Health (GPIPPSAM) at the Institute of Advanced Studies, USP (IEA/USP), and the board of the Brazilian Chapter of the World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (WAPR-Brazil).My expertise includes mental health and substance use policies and services for individuals with mental health conditions or substance use-related needs, as well as research and training with a focus on human rights.
