Elena Pagni

I gratuated in 2005 in Philosophy (University of Pisa - Italy) with a thesis on Aristotle and his view of perception. I awarded the PhD in Philosophy in 2010 from the University of Florence. My PhD memoir (that was published in 2012 by University Firenze Press) dealt with the concept of lived/experiencing body developed by Aristotle and Merleau-Ponty (20th Phenomenology). From 2010 I am a member of the Research Laboratory "Epistemologica" (http://www.epistemologica.it) at the University of Firenze (Italy), directed by Prof. Roberta Lanfredini. The Laboratory gathers twenty Italian researchers belonging to different areas of research: Epistemology, Applied Phenomenology, Philosophy of Biology, Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Language, Applied Ontology. In 2013 I got a one-year post doc (Research in Paris fellowship) in philosophy of biology at the Ens of Paris (Centre Cavaillès), under the supervision of Dr. Giuseppe Longo (http://www.di.ens.fr/~longo/), with a research project focusing on the reconceptualization of biological individuation as based on the theoretical perspectives on organisms presented by Longo & Bailly (2011) and Longo & Montévil (2014), who provide an organismal approach to biological dynamics in ontogenesis and phylogenesis. From January 2015 until February 2016 I got a post doc scholarship at the PPG in Psychology at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (scholarship of the PNPD/Capes Program) under the direction of Prof. Richard Simanke. My research project in History and Philosophy of Biology attempts to give a theoretical framework to outline an explanation of biological individuation both as a natural phenomenon and as a historic fact (vs physical entities). I particularly deal with some branches of theoretical and developmental biology which emphasize the need to reconceptualize the biological behavior at the interplay of multilevel (plural) explanatory mechanisms of evolution. From October 2016 I get a post doc fellowship at the Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras de Ribeirão Preto, Departamento de Psicologia, under the direction of Prof. Reinaldo Furlan. My project in phenomenology of life attemps to focus on the concept of ?incarnation? in the ontology of nature of Merleau-Ponty ant its anthropological implications. Since February 2018 she is a visiting professor, with exclusive dedication, at the Department of Philosophy of the Institute of Human Sciences at the Federal University of Juiz De Fora.
