Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Instituto de Biociências (IB)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Marcos has a sandwich degree from the University of Canterbury (NZ) - "Science Without Borders" - with a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo (2017) and a master's degree from the University of Montana (USA) with a degree in Ecology from the University of São Paulo (2021 ). He is currently a doctoral researcher at IB-USP, delving deeper into the journey of investigating the interaction between ecological, evolutionary and genetic processes. His great interest is to use the coevolution model between the endosymbiont bacterium Wolbachia and several neotropical species of the fly of the genus Drosophila to understand the mechanisms that maintain the prevalence of the bacterium in nature. He has solid experience in Evolutionary Ecology and Genomics, with approaches involving fieldwork, experimental design, molecular biology and bioinformatics. His interest in biological databases led him to take a MicroMasters in Statistics and Data Science from MITx and an MBA from USP/Esalq, where he deepened the application of statistical inference, exploratory data analysis and machine learning techniques with the objective of contribute to the advancement of knowledge and innovation in the field of Evolutionary Ecology and Genomics in Brazil.
