In Brazil there are several incompletely studied rare-earth elements-bearing rocks, such as the alkaline rocks of Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais, where some new minerals have been described and others are under study. Detailed mineralogical study (chemical and crystallographic) of these and other rocks of Brazilian occurrence is intended to be performed. (AU)
The rocks of the Poços de Caldas Alkaline Complex contain many rare minerals, some of them rich in rare earth elements. However, many of these minerals have only been observed or partially described, it justify why only 2 new minerals species were find there (fluorlamprophyllite - (SrNa)Ti2Na3Ti(Si2O7)2O2F2 and manganoeudialyte - Na14Ca6Mn3Zr3[Si26O72(OH)2](H2O,Cl,O,OH).
