Franco-Brazilian, Thaïs Chauvel holds both a Masters and a Ph.D. in Literature from the University of São Paulo (USP), and works in the field of French language and literature teaching and research. After obtaining the French Baccalauréat Général (Literary stream) in 2009 with honors (Mention Très Bien, Félicitations du Jury), she enrolled in the undergraduate program in Letters at USP in 2011, choosing French as her area of specialization the following year. In 2013, she conducted an undergraduate research project within the framework of the TGI I and II courses (Trabalho de Graduação Individual), under the supervision of Professor Tokiko Ishihara. This investigative work examined how the theme of love in Marguerite Yourcenars Nouvelles Orientales was shaped by the treatment of eros in archaic Greek poetry. She completed her degree in 2015, earning both a bachelor's and a teaching license in French Language and Literature. In 2016, she began her master's research under the supervision of Professor Verónica Galíndez, with support from a FAPESP scholarship. Her dissertation, defended in 2018, focused on the study of the seraglio novel in Montesquieus Persian Letters (1721). Her doctoral research, supervised by Professor Marta Kawano and defended in 2025, offered an in-depth analysis of the eighteenth-century French epistolary novel, with particular emphasis on Les Liaisons dangereuses by Choderlos de Laclos (1782). With support from Capes/CNPq, she undertook a doctoral research internship in France in 2023 at the Université de Toulouse Jean Jaurès and the Institut Renaissance Âge Classique et Lumières (IRCL, Montpellier), under the supervision of Professors Stéphane Pujol and Linda Gil. She has over ten years of experience in teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE), having worked as a French instructor at the USP Language Center in 2014 and 2015, at the Alliance Française of São Paulo (AFSP) in 2016 and 2018, and at the online language-learning start-up 123 Francês from 2018 to 2020. Since 2016, she has also served as a substitute teacher of French language and literature at the Lycée International Français de São Paulo and, since 2019, has been offering open-enrollment courses in French literature at Sala Jaú.Orcid ID: 0000-0002-4984-1930.
