Raphael Leonardo Cunha de Araujo

I am a Surgical Oncologist specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant and benign injuries of liver, pancreas and colorectal liver metastases. I graduated in Medicine at University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, and I have done a Clinical Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at AC Camargo Cancer Center (São Paulo SP Brazil). I was approved for Board Certification for Brazilian Societies of General Surgery, Gastrointestinal Surgery and Surgical Oncology. I spent two years (2010 2012) as Research Fellow at Hepatopancreatobiliary Service of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York (USA). During this time, I worked on clinical research of surgical and systemic treatment of pancreatic cancer and colorectal liver metastases. Afterwards, I also spent one year as a resident of Hepatopancreatobiliary Service at Hospital Paul Brousse, France (2012/2013), taking care of patients with liver and pancreas diseases, including colorectal liver metastases; liver and pancreas primary cancers; and patients in need of liver transplantation. I have a PhD in Gastroenterology by the University of São Paulo School of Medicine, the same institution where I worked for 2 years as attending at Liver Surgery Unit. Afterwards, I moved to Barretos and worked as the Head of Department of Upper Gastrointestinal and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery, Barretos Cancer Hospital, Barretos, São Paulo, Brazil until July 2018. Moreover, I still work as a Professor of Postgraduation program in Pio XII Foundation, and I am coordinator of discipline of Clinical Research applied to Clinical Practice in the same program. I moved back to São Paulo in August 2018 since I was hired an Adjunct Professor of Gastrointestinal Surgery (Liver Surgery) at Escola Paulista de Medicina - UNIFESP.
