Birthplace: Brazil

Joing MD/PhD candidate in the University of Campinas, under the supervision of Prof. Licio Augusto Velloso. I was a scientific treinee at his lab before joining the Physician-Scientist Training Program, when I joined his lab as PhD student. I was also a visiting student at the lab of Prof. Young-Bum Kim at the Beth-Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) at Harvard Medical School. I was the first to perform single-cell analysis in Brazil, and have developed new machine-learning methods to learn meningful latent representations of biological systems. I'm interested in the broad applicability of single-cell omics to many systems and diseases, in particular regarding neuroimmunometabolism. My initial focus was the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus, but I have also worked with adipose tissue, liver, skeletal muscle, blood and tissue. I'm also interested in the development of new machine-learning methods to allow meaningful biological interpretation of single-cell omics. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
