He holds a degree in Biological Sciences - Medical Modality from the Federal University of São Paulo - USP (1996). Master's and PhD in Psychobiology from the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (1999 and 2002). Post-doctorate in Neurophysiology at the Department of Physiology of the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto - USP (2003-2005), and Post-doctorate at the University of Leeds, England (2005). In 2009 he joined the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology of the Federal University of Pernambuco as a professor, where he founded the Neurodynamics Laboratory. He has experience in the areas of purification and testing of anticonvulsant neurotoxins present in spider venoms and in vivo and in vitro experimental models of epilepsy. It currently has three lines of research using the electroencephalogram technique in humans: 1. new non-pharmacological treatments for epilepsy control; 2. brain mapping and neurofeedback for anxiety and depression control; 3; brain-machine interface and its application in schools (Neuroschool). In 2024, the Neurodynamics Laboratory received the Prof. Dr. Fernando Capovilla Laboratories award and also the honorable mention "People Expression, Best Practices in Education, Health, Science: Preparing Human Being for Innovation Ideas that Value Life and Impact Socity", by the 9th International Congress of Neuroscience and Learning, CAP SUR LCOLE INCLUSIVE EUROPE.
