Fernando Luiz Sacomano Filho

Professor Doutor (Assistant) at the Department of mechanical Engineering of the Escola Politécnica of USP. Dr Fernando Luiz Sacomano Filho obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of São Paulo (2008), completed an MSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of São Paulo (2011) and did his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Technische Universität Darmstadt (2017). Currently, he is a member of the scientific committee of the Brazilian section of The Combustion Institute (Rede Nacional de Combustão - RNC) . He has been carrying out research as a member of the Laboratory of Environmental and Thermal Engineering (LETE) since 2009 and as a collaborator of the Laboratory of Technological Characterization (LCT) since 2023. He has also been part of the Research Centre for Gas Innovation (RCGI) since 2018. His areas of expertise are fluid mechanics and energy, and he is currently working on projects and supervising students in the following research lines: spray combustion, laminar and turbulent combustion, droplets and spray dispersion, heat and mass transfer (focus on droplet evaporation) on single- and multicomponent droplets, turbulence-flame and droplets interaction, FGM chemical reduction method, LES (Large Eddy Simulation) approach to address turbulence modeling, and combustion processes associated with carbon capture and storage (CCS), for instance oxy-fuel combustion and Chemical Looping Combustion - CLC).
