Birthplace: Brazil

Bachelor in Aeronautical Mechanical Engineerig by the Aeronautical Technological Institute (ITA, 1979), Master in Operational Research and Transport by ITA (1983) and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences by Northwestern University (Evanston, IL, USA, 1987). From October 2005 to May 2010, he was part of the pro tempore team that established the Federal University of ABC, where he held the positions of Dean of the Graduate School, Vice-rector (Vice-president) and Rector's Chief of Staff. From June 2010 to December 2012, he directed the Institute of Science and Technology of the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp) in São José dos Campos. In January 2014, he was assigned to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, where he held the position of National Secretary for Technological Development and Innovation until the end of 2015. He retired in February 2017 as Full Professor of ITA, where he worked in the areas of operational research and applied statistics. He began his duties as a Senior Visiting Professor at the Federal University of ABC in March 2017, ending in June 2017. He currently works in the Graduate program in Operational Research offered jointly by Unifesp and ITA. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
