Marilia Oliveira Fonseca Goulart (ORCID 0000-0001-9860-3667) is a full professor at Universidade Federal de Alagoas (institute of Chemistry and Biotechnology), CNPq researcher 1B (http://lattes.cnpq.br/5271094336884473), full member of the Brazilian Academy of Science (ABC, 2015) and of TWAS (2022), graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy of UFMG, Brazil. She received her PhD (13/10/1983), from the Chemistry Department, UFMG. She did post-doctoral studies in London, Münster, and Paris. She was a visiting professor (10/2004 04/2005; 03/2007- 04/2007; 09/2008), at École Normale Supérieure, Département de Chimie, Paris. She has published so far 210 articles (> 250 by Google Scholar), 9 Patents, 12 Book Chapters. She has an h index of 49 (Google Scholar, citations > 8000), 42 (Scopus), and 41 (Web of Science, citations > 5300), more than 20 papers cited more than 100 times, 10 of them more than 200. Her main contributions concern Natural Products Chemistry (she was the recipient of the first place of the Young Scientist Award (CNPq), in 1985), Molecular Bioelectrochemistry and Oxidative Stress/cardiometabolic diseases, areas where electrochemistry interfaced with organic chemistry and life sciences. She attempts to isolate and test molecules with similar efficiencies against oxidative stress disorders (quinone-based and nitro-aromatic-based) derived from extracts of local plants and/or synthesized. She coordinates the RENORBIO doctoral program in biotechnology in Brazil. She received several awards in 1997. She was chair of Division 6 (Molecular Electrochemistry) and vice president (2017-2020) of the International Society of Electrochemistry (2017-2019). Full member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (2015) and member of the advisory board of ABC (2016) and CNPq - Chemistry (2017-2020). She is a consultant in FCT (Portugal).
