Francisco Paulo dos Santos

Graduated in Chemistry from the State University of Maringá (2003), completed a Master's degree in Sciences with an emphasis on Organic Chemistry at the University of São Paulo (2006), and obtained a Ph.D. in Sciences from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) (2009). He has extensive experience in the fields of chemistry and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), focusing on structure, conformation, and stereochemistry. Previously, he served as the lead researcher for the NMR spectroscopy laboratory at the Braskem Technology and Innovation Center. From 2010 to 2013, he was part of the Polymer Science team, focusing on the NMR of polyolefins in both solution and solid states. Currently, he is an Associate Professor 4 in the Department of Organic Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). He coordinated the Analytical Center of the Institute of Chemistry at UFRGS from 2016 to 2020 and is currently the deputy coordinator of the Graduate Program in Chemistry at UFRGS. At the UFRGS Molecular Catalysis Laboratory (LAMOCA), his research covers various topics, including the conformational analysis of organic compounds through NMR spectroscopy, the investigation of the structure of ionic liquids using NMR spectroscopy and theoretical calculations, as well as the characterization and application of ionic liquids in the deuteration of organic compounds and the capture of carbon dioxide (CO#8322;) in oil extraction facilities. He is currently the coordinator of the FINEP project - Zwitterionic Bases and Membrane Technology: Solutions for the Purification Processes of Pre-Salt Natural Gas. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
