Rodrigo Eiji Hakamada

I am a professor at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ/USP) in the area of #8203;#8203;Forest Management and Climate Change and a leader of scientific projects at the Institute of Forestry Studies and Research (IPEF). As an undergraduate, I was a student and general manager at Grupo Florestal Monte Olimpo, a teaching, research and extension group in forestry and forest management at ESALQ/USP, and I currently work as a professor advising the group. I am a forestry engineer, with a PhD in forest resources from the University of São Paulo (2012 and 2016) and a specialist in Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition from the Federal University of Lavras (2008). I worked as a forestry researcher in the private sector (Veracel and International Paper) for 10 years (2005-2015), being responsible for technical-scientific projects, for technical recommendations and extension of silvicultural practices and forest management of planted forests and restoration of degraded areas in more than 100,000 hectares. I was a visiting doctoral student at Kasetsart University (Thailand) and at the US Forest Service (Rocky Mountain Research Station) (2015/2016). I was a partner and forestry engineer at 4Tree (now Geplant), technical advisor in research, development and forestry extension projects (2017-2018). I was a professor at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, visiting professor at the University of Guadalajara (Mexico) and postdoctoral researcher at Colorado State University under the supervision of Dan Binkley (the most cited author in forestry sciences throughout his career until 2023). I have scientific and practical experience in the areas of silviculture and forest management, ecophysiology, forest ecology, forest operations, soil and water conservation and use.
