PhD in History and Theory of Art from the University of the Arts London, German studied and completed his thesis at the Research Centre for Transnational Art, Identity and Nation (TrAIN), with the Brazilianist critic and historian Michael Asbury. Previously, he pursued a Master of Arts (with distinction) at the same institution. He was recently a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences of the University of São Paulo, under the supervision of Sergio Miceli. Funded by FAPESP, his research was dedicated to the trajectory of artistic practices recognized in Brazil under the labels of digital art, computational art, technological art, media art, or still, art and new media. As part of this project, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Department of Communication at Stanford University, under the supervision of cultural historian Fred Turner, where he studied the influence of American cultural diplomacy on Brazilian computational art in the context of the cultural Cold War. Co-editor of the Handbook of Popular Culture and Biomedicine: Knowledge in the Life Sciences as Cultural Artifact (Springer, 2019), more recently, in 2022, he was the winner of the first research award from the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art (MAM). In addition to articles and public presentations, his involvement with the museum also resulted in a book celebrating the institution's history, MAM São Paulo: Seventy-Five Years of History (MAM, 2023). Alongside these intellectual endeavors, he has been part of the art collective [+zero] since 2007, nominated for the PIPA Prize for Contemporary Art in 2011. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
