Birthplace: Brazil

Adjunct Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Federal University of São Carlos (DQ/UFSCar), affiliated with the Graduate Program in Chemistry, working at the interface between materials and catalysis. He holds a bachelor's degree (2011) and a master's degree (2013) in Chemistry from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), with a sandwich period during his master's at the University of Guelph (Canada), where he worked on bio-oil upgrading under the guidance of Prof. Marcel Schlaf. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), defending his thesis titled "Catalytic Conversion of Biomass-Derived Platform Molecules Over Zeolites" under the supervision of Prof. Edman Tsang. After his Ph.D., he conducted postdoctoral research in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of São Paulo (USP). Between 2019 and 2021, he was a Humboldt Fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in Potsdam (Germany), as a guest of Prof. Markus Antonietti.Prof. Ivo has extensive experience in the field of catalysis, including zeolites, bio-oil, and the catalytic conversion of biomass-derived molecules. Currently, he leads a research group at UFSCar, focusing on the development of carbon nitride-based materials and single-atom catalysis. He coordinates two major projects in the area of catalysis: the FAPESP Young Investigator project, titled "Graphitic Carbon Nitrides as Platforms for Single-Atom Photocatalysis: Moving Towards Design Principles for Improved Performance", and the CNPq IBH2 MCTI project.
