She holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1983), a master's degree in Informatics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1990), and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Université de Toulouse III (Paul Sabatier) (1994). She is currently a professor in the Systems and Computing Engineering Program at Coppe, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
