Dr. Heloise Ribeiro de Barros is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Chemistry Institute at São Paulo University, in São Paulo/SP. She received her BS degree in Chemistry from the State University of Maringá (2011), MS and Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Paraná in Brazil (2014 and 2018, respectively), with a stay as a visiting student at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Germany (2016-2017). In 2019-2020, she was a visiting postdoctoral researcher in the Bionanoplasmonics Lab at the CIC Biomagune in Spain. Her research interests are mainly on the controlling of the physicochemical interactions in the nano-bio interface between gold nanoparticles and biomolecules. Recent works have focused on the light-driven regulation of enzyme functions at the interface with plasmonic nanoparticles, fostering innovative opportunities in the emerging field of plasmonic biocatalysis. The main purpose of her research is to obtain precise, sustainable, noninvasive, and remote-controlled methods for the rational development of materials to overcome current challenges in applied biocatalysis and biomedicine applications.
