Geraldo Silveira received the Ph.D. degree in computer vision and robot control from the École des Mines de Paris (MINES ParisTech)/INRIA Sophia Antipolis, France, in 2008; the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP)/CTI in 2002; and the B.Sc. (Hons) degree in electrical engineering from the Federal University of RN (UFRN) in 2000. In 2002, he joined the CTI, where is currently a permanent Senior Research Scientist at the Division of Cyberphysical Systems, and leads the VisioTec research group (Vision-based Techniques of Estimation and Control of robots). He had also been an Affiliated Research Professor at UNICAMP; a Visiting Professor at Technische Universität Wien, Vienna, Austria; and an Invited Professor of the european Erasmus Mundus Vision and Robotics Masters program. During his undergraduate years, he had also studied in USA and Germany. Dr. Silveira has received important awards, such as at a scientific event organized by the Brazilian Society of Automatics, and his scientific works have also contributed to start up high-tech companies. His current research interests include robot vision, vision-based estimation and control, and robotics. In these fields, he is author and reviewer of various journals and international conferences.
