Laura Fernandes Afonso

Ph.D. in Sciences from the Graduate Program in Comparative Biology at the University of São Paulo (USP), with a sandwich fellowship at the New York Botanical Garden (USA). M.Sc. in Sciences from the same program and a degree in Biological Sciences from Centro Universitário Barão de Mauá. Has experience in morphological, ontogenetic, and systematic studies, with an emphasis on the Rutaceae family, especially Neotropical groups. Currently serves as curator of the Herbarium of the Jardim Botânico Ordem e Progresso (HJBOP), affiliated with the Fundação Banco do Brasil Project No. 21.945, and provides specialized botanical services within the project Sustainable and Inclusive Health: Implementation of Phytotherapy Supported by Telemedicine in the North and Northeast Regions, focusing on the identification of medicinal species and the organization of the collection.
