The Simaroubaceae (Sapindales), has about 109 species in 22 genera, being Homalolepis Turcz represented by 28 species restricted to tropical South America, with some of these extending to the north in Central America, distributed in the extra-Amazon region, mainly in the areas of Cerrado and Atlantic Forest.
