Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz (ESALQ) (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal) Birthplace: Brazil
Biologist graduated at the University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP). Master and PhD in Science (Entomology program) for the same university. He has experience in Chemical Ecology and Insect Behavior, specifically in Atta (leafcutter ants) chemical communication. During the Master program he investigated trail pheromone profiles variation in Atta sexdens under different stimuli and in the development of extraction techniques for compounds released in the environment and related to the ants' communication. In the PhD course, he developed projects related to morphological (antennal sensilla mapping), physiological (several pheromones comparison using electroantennography process) and behavioral (forraging, grooming, brood care etc) of chemical perception in leafcutter ants castes and subcastes. He was Professor of Entomology and Integrated Pest Management at the University of Santa Catarina during 2019-2020. Currently, he is a pos-doc researcher in the Chemical Ecology and Insect Behavior laboratory, ESALQ-USP, also acting as Collaborator Professor at the same campus, teaching the subjects General Entomology (Agronomy course) and Invertebrate Zoology I (Biological Sciences courses).
