Carlos Eduardo Nicolette is a PhD student in Social History at the University of São Paulo. His project is titled "A Counterpoint Paulista: sugar, supplies, capital, and slavery in Campinas, c. 1790-1860," under the supervision of Dr. Carlos de Almeida Prado Bacellar. He holds a master's degree in Social History from the same university and presented his dissertation, entitled "In the light of white gold: sugarcane farming in São Paulo and the assembly of the sugar park in Campinas (c. 1790-1818)," under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Carlos de Almeida Prado Bacellar. I participated in the History of Portuguese Paulista Project, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. José da Silva Simões, with the Scientific Initiation project entitled "Nativism in Marcelino Pereira Cleto's Dissertation: Literate Culture in Portuguese America." I also participated in the "Brasiliana Digital" project, which received support from Fapesp, the Ministry of Culture, Petrobras, and BNDES, through the Brasiliana/USP preservation and digitalization laboratory. He is a member of the Center for Studies on Demographic History in Latin America (CEDHAL) and the GT History of Populations in the Family Systems and Social Reproduction line of research, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Ana Silvia Volpi Scott.
