He holds a degree in Cartographic Engineering from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1997), a master's degree in Remote Sensing from the National Institute for Space Research (2005) and a doctorate in Remote Sensing from the National Institute of Space Research (2011).
