Nícolas Finkler holds a Ph.D. in Sciences (2022) from the Program of Hydraulic and Sanitation Engineering at the São Carlos School of Engineering, University of São Paulo (PPGSHS/EESC/USP), with a scholarship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP, grant no. 2018/13171-1). He earned his degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Caxias do Sul (2013) and a Master's in Sciences from USP (2018). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Ecology and Environmental Sciences at Umeå University, Sweden (2022-2024). His research investigates anthropogenic impacts on aquatic ecosystems, with a focus on ecosystem services, water quality, and water resource management. He also has experience in environmental planning, solid waste, and environmental education. The focus of his research is to understand how human-induced environmental stressors affect ecological processes, contributing to more effective strategies for the conservation and sustainable management of these ecosystems. In addition to his research, he has experience co-supervising undergraduate, specialization, and Master's students, assisting in the development of scientific projects and the training of new researchers. He also serves as a reviewer for scientific articles in national and international journals, contributing to the evaluation and dissemination of academic knowledge in the environmental field.
