Graduated in Forest Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), holds a Masters degree in Remote Sensing from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), and a Ph.D. in Remote Sensing from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Earth System Science (CCST-INPE), focusing on the study, understanding, and modeling of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting from land-use and land-cover changes and forest fires in the Amazon biome.During his postdoctoral research, he worked as a visiting scholar at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in a technical-scientific exchange program aimed at integrating bottom-up and top-down approaches for estimating GHG emissions in the Amazon. He served as Head of Carbon at Bluebell Index, leading the development of frameworks for the monitoring and quantification of environmental assets such as carbon, soil, biodiversity, and water on rural properties. He is currently a specialist in GIS and Remote Sensing at Geonoma Florestal, focusing on the identification and monitoring of forest restoration areas previously affected by degradation. He is a consultant for FAO in collaboration with the Brazilian Forest Service, contributing to the planning of the new cycle of the National Forest Inventory, and a consultant for UNDP in the development of emission factor databases for Brazils Fifth National Communication on Greenhouse Gas Inventories. He is a member of the REGENERA-AMZ project, which focuses on the natural regeneration of the Amazon, and a member of the TREES/INPE group Tropical Ecosystems and Environmental Sciences Lab.He has experience in forest inventories, monitoring and recovery of degraded areas, and greenhouse gas inventories, with an emphasis on satellite image processing techniques (both optical and radar) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
