Ricardo Santhiago is a historian and communication scholar. He is a professor at the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp) and a CNPq research productivity fellow in the field of History. He coordinates CUME Interdisciplinary Research Laboratory on Culture and Memory and Amabile: Arquivo da Memória Artística Brasileira. He holds a degree in Journalism (PUC-SP, 2004), with a specialization in Scientific Journalism (Unicamp, 2006); a masters and PhD in Social History (USP, 2009/2013), and a postdoctoral degree in History (UFF, 2015). He was a professor at the University of Campinas (Unicamp) and is currently a permanent faculty member of the Graduate Program in Cultural Studies at the University of São Paulo (USP), as well as a collaborating professor in the Graduate Program in History at the State University of Santa Catarina (Udesc). A member of the Brazilian Oral History Association (ABHO) since 2007, he served as its vice president (20202022) and editor of the journal História Oral, regional director for the Southeast (20222024), and is currently its president (20242026). He is also a founding member and coordinator of the Brazilian Public History Network (RBHP) and coordinates the Directorate of Courses and Public History at the National History Association (ANPUH). He serves on the editorial team of the journal Words and Silences | Palabras y Silencios, was part of the founding editorial committee of the journal International Public History (IPH), and is a member of the editorial board of the series Public History in International Perspective (De Gruyter), as well as of other journals and series. His interdisciplinary work focuses on public history and oral history, communication and the arts, and research theory and methodology. He is the author of articles, chapters, reviews, and commentaries published in Brazil and abroad, as well as the author and editor of several books, among which stand out Solistas dissonantes: História (oral) de cantoras negras (2009), História oral na sala de aula (2015), and História pública no Brasil: Sentidos e itinerários (2016). Among his recent collaborations are the co-edited books Entrevistas imprevistas: Surpresa e criatividade em história oral, with Miriam Hermeto (2022), also published in English as The Unexpected in Oral History: Case Studies of Surprising Interviews (2023), and O desafio do diálogo: Reflexões sobre história oral nos 30 anos da ABHO (2024), with Marieta de Moraes Ferreira. His authored projects include an extensive initiative on the São Paulo singer and composer Miriam Batucada, resulting in the publication of a biography (A história incompleta de Miriam Batucada, 2024), the production of a music album (Infiel, marginal e artista: As composições de Miriam Batucada, 2024), and the public release of her personal archive. Another major project focused on the artist Edy Star, leading to the edition of manuscripts from the 1950s and 1960s (Diário de um invertido: Escritos líricos, aflitos e despudorados, 2022) and a long-form oral history (Eu só fiz viver: A história oral despudorada de Edy Star, 2025).
