Birthplace: Brazil

I'm obtained the title of PhD in Marine Sciences through a joint program between Ghent University (Universiteit Gent, UGent) and University Paris VI (Université Pierre et Marie Curie, UPMC). For my PhD work, I investigated population ecology of the sandworm ecosystem engineer Lanice conchilega. The work involved lab and field experiments, remote sensing, and ecological modeling (simulation and statistics). I have a lot of experience in international collaboration since I've worked abroad for approximately 7 years. I also have a lot of experience with multidisciplinary collaboration, since I've worked closely with geographers and modelers for my PhD. For future endeavors, I hope to expand my expertise to employ remote sensing and modeling to environmental management and policy. I also hope to expand on multidisciplinary collaborations to include people from more varied fields of work so that I may grow both professionally and personally.
