Fatima Conceição Márquez Piña-Rodrigues

ull Professor at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), Sorocaba campus, holding a Bachelors degree in Forest Engineering from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (1977), a Masters degree in Forest Engineering from the Luiz de Queiróz College of Agriculture (1982), and a Ph.D. in Ecology from the State University of Campinas (1999). She also completed postdoctoral research in Tropical Ecology at the University of MissouriSt. Louis (UMSL), USA, and in Applied Ecology to Forest Sciences at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), Portugal. She was responsible for implementing and consolidating the Undergraduate Program in Forest Engineering at the Sorocaba campus (UFSCar), which received the highest score (5) in the ENADE evaluation. She conducts extension courses on seed collection for traditional communities. She coordinated the Technical Committee on Forest Seeds at ABRATES and is a member of the advisory council on forest seeds and seedlings for the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply. She serves as Coordinator of the RIOESBA Atlantic Forest Seed Network, collaborates with the Xingu Seed Networks, REMASAtlantic Forest Seed Network, and the Seeds and Seedlings Network of the Rio Doce Basin. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Xingu Seed Network and is involved in translating research into public policy, having contributed to the formulation of Normative Instruction 04/98 of IBAMA on community forest management; SMA Resolutions No. 47/2003 and No. 08/2008 concerning the restoration of degraded areas; and SMA No. 66/2008 in the State of São Paulo. She also contributed to Decree No. 5,153/2003, IN-26/12, IN-56/12, and IN-17-19/17 of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply regarding the production and commercialization of forest seeds and seedlings.
