Has a degree in Biological Sciences - University of Buenos Aires; MSc in Ecology - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (agency grant CNPq) and PhD in Comparative Biology; Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Ribeirão Preto - University of São Paulo (agency grant CAPES), postdoctoral degree in the Ciência Sem Fronteiras program (agency grant CNPq ) and postdoctoral degree in the postdoctoral program of the Department of Biological Oceanography, Oceanographic Institute University of São Paulo (agency grant FUSP). As a researcher linked to the Center for Marine Biology - CEBiMar /USP, he carried out studies on larval ecology, allelopathic interactions and population dynamics of the invasive sun coral, Tubastraea coccinea, as well as succession analyzes of invaded rocky coastal communities. He also participates on comparative studies about sun coral and brain coral performances , Mussismilia hispida, under hypothetical scenarios of global warming. Damián has currently part of a project to develop optical methods for detection of Tubastraea sp, conducted at the Laboratory of Planktonic Systems of the USP Oceanographic Institute. His researches are divulged through national and international congresses and articles published on international journals, among them PLOS ONE, Marine Biology, Coral Reef, Biological Invasions, Marine Biodiversity and Journal of Experimental Marine Biology and Ecology.
